USWE Wine Industry Internship
Hands on Training
Our ‘Wine Industry Internship’ course is designed to give students hands on experience in the business. Students will work with Sommeliers in restaurants and hotel properties learning day-to-day operations on managing and running a wine program. Students will also spend time working with distributors and suppliers to learn about distribution and sales. During the internship, students will be working on projects that build understanding of wine pricing, inventory management, wine list creation, and purchasing. This course will give students great hands on experience for moving into a job in the wine industry.
Teacher & Trainer Heath Hiudt
Heath Hiudt got his start in the wine industry at the age of 23 when he became a beverage manager in the Jeff Ruby Culinary Entertainment group in Cincinnati Ohio. Realizing that he needed to learn more about the Italian and American wine list he now managed, Heath turned to reading every book he could get his hands on. Reading books and working daily with wine sparked his interest in growing his wine knowledge.
